Greene County Medical Center has eased some visitor restrictions put in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Effective May 27, the emergency department, surgery, clinics, outpatient chemotherapy and obstetric ultrasound patients will be allowed one companion or support person.
The companion/support person
- Must be free from any signs of illness including cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, vomiting or diarrhea, fever of 100.0 or higher, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat or a new loss of taste or smell
- Should not be high risk for severe disease
- Must be screened by personnel upon entry to the medical center
- Must always remain in the patient room as appropriate
- Must wear a mask and follow instructions if additional PPE is required
- Must practice hand hygiene when entering and exiting the patient room
- Must observe a social distance of 6 feet
Restrictions in acute care and long term care remain in effect with no visitors at this time.
“We understand these visitor restrictions may be difficult for you. While we are committed to providing a family-centered care environment, right now restricting visitors is in the best interest of our patients and staff,” a medical center spokesperson said.
These guidelines are subject to change. The status of COVID-19 is continually monitored and restrictions will be changed as appropriate to protect patients, employees and the communities served by the medical center.
